The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued an alert for rain, thunderstorms, and possible hailstorms across the province from May 2 to May 4, urging district administrations to take precautionary measures.

According to the PDMA, a westerly weather system is expected to enter the region on Saturday evening and persist until Monday, bringing dust storms, widespread rainfall, and isolated heavy downpours. The authority has warned that upper districts of the province may experience intense weather conditions, including hailstorms, while plains areas such as Peshawar, Mardan, and Nowshera could face heavy rainfall with a risk of urban flooding.

The disaster management authority also cautioned about the possibility of landslides in vulnerable hilly areas and flooding in local streams and drains. Strong winds accompanying the storms may damage weak structures, electricity poles, and solar panels.

Additionally, urgent measures have been recommended to improve water drainage systems in urban areas to prevent flooding during heavy rainfall.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms, rain, and hailstorms in multiple districts, including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Bajaur, Mohmand, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Kurram, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan.
